E911 Emergency Services

Enhanced 911 service for VoIP lines. Ensure emergency services can locate your callers with accurate address information.

Important: E911 service is essential for VoIP users. Unlike traditional phones, VoIP doesn't automatically transmit your location. Register your address to ensure emergency responders can find you.

What is E911?

Enhanced 911 (E911) automatically provides emergency dispatchers with your registered location when you call 911. For VoIP phones, this address must be manually registered since your phone can be used from anywhere.

Why E911 Matters

When you call 911 from a VoIP phone without E911, dispatchers may not know where you are. Precious minutes can be lost while they try to locate you. E911 ensures help arrives at the right address.

E911 vs Regular 911:

E911 FAQ

While not technically required for basic VoIP service, E911 is strongly recommended for any phone that may be used to call 911. The FCC requires VoIP providers to offer E911 service, and many businesses are required to have it for compliance reasons.

Your call will still connect to 911, but the dispatcher will only see your caller ID number - they won't know your location. You'll need to verbally provide your address, which wastes precious time in an emergency.

Yes! Each DID can have its own E911 address registered. This is important for businesses with multiple locations or employees working from home.

Update your E911 address immediately whenever the phone moves to a new physical location. For remote workers who travel, consider using a mobile phone for emergencies instead of VoIP when away from the registered address.

Yes, but with limitations. E911 will transmit the registered address, which may not be your actual location if you're using a softphone on the go. For mobile emergency calls, it's recommended to use your cell phone's native dialer, which has GPS-based location services.
